January 2016 was a successful, educational, fun and adventurous month at PhlipVids. The start of the year came off the back of a strong 2015 which finished with a social media video we filmed and produced with Rainforestation Nature Park and Tourism Tropical North Queensland. The video was of Bon Bon the koala joey in a Christmas theme which went viral and got millions of views around the world. With views still climbing as the new year started it helped kick start 2016 and also proved that a small budget video can get big budget coverage.
We worked with a lot of great businesses and met some special people from different parts of the world including the Exley family from the UK who I filmed on the Daintree Dreaming Day Tour. We had so much fun on the trip I ended up showing them around Cairns when they came down from Port Douglas.
In January we filmed everything from islands, scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef, flying in planes and helicopters, a high ropes course, waterfalls and much more as you can see in the video above. In most cases the videos I created for clients were the highest engagement posts on their social media channels……..ever! With a bit of information and education I was able to help clients keep the engagement up and ensure the video content performed well. I noticed that most companies are testing the water with ongoing video content and haven’t yet factored it into their strategies (if they have one). Video is and will continue to be a key traffic and sales driver over the coming years and should be budgeted for. I created videos for a lot of different purposes ranging from complete online and social packages to website specific videos to assist with informing customers and help with website rankings.
In January I also tested out the new 360Fly camera which is one of the affordable 360 degree video options on the market and I will have a review coming out soon of my experiences with it so far.
Thanks to all the businesses that engaged me for filming and/or video editing and i look forward to working with you again in 2016. I’d love your feedback in the comments section below and if you have any questions or would like to discuss a videos please feel free to contact me!
